Firstly, each individual is different and women and ladies fall into the different shapes that we have. And they are apple pear, banana and hourglass shapes among many others.
Apple or round shape – Females with this type of shape carry weight around their middles. They have broad shoulders, less defined waist. They have narrow hips, slender legs.
Styling tip – elongate waist, draw attention to legs, opt for structured pieces that will add definition to waist. These women look best in A-line dresses and clothing that emphasize the burst and shape, while not emphasizing on the waist.

Peer-shape or triangle shape – Females with this shape are smaller on top and larger in the hips and thighs. They have round bottom and full thighs and a defined waist. The shoulder and burst are narrower than the hip.
Styling tips – enhance waistline, add volume to arms, avoid drawing attention to hips. For this body shape, you can choose prints or brighter colours for your top half. Wider necklines like boat necklines and sweetheart necklines broaden the shoulder. You can also layer your top to add more volume to your upper half. Avoid extremely long tops and extremely cropped tops.

Banana or rectangle or straight shape – Females with this shape are slim all over. They have undefined waist, straight hips and bottom. They don’t really have curves.
Styling tips – create illusion of curves, define waistline, and show off lean arms and legs. These women look good in most dresses. They can highlight their shape by wearing clothes that create curves, which are: flared pants, cinched waistlines, and tapered jackets and look astonishing.

Hourglass shapes – Females have slim waist and full hips and breasts. They gave defined and narrow waist, proportionately balanced shoulders and hips, round bottom and usually look curvy.

The inverted triangle body shape : You have an inverted triangle body shape if you wear a larger top half then the bottom and your shoulders are broader than your hips.
Styling tips : Avoid necklines like boat neck or bardot, big straps, halter neck tops, big shawl collars and larger patterns on your top half. Instead, opt for items that accentuate your bottom half like an A-line skirt or wide leg trousers. The best pair of jeans that work with an inverted triangle body shape would be the boyfriend jean.
Plus size shape : They are usually chubby and they have added weight and shape. They usually have more body than the other body shapes. They are usually thicker than other body shapes. The interesting thing is that this shape can fall under the other types of body sizes like hourglass shape, inverted triangle shape or the others.
Styling tips : Dress for your shape not your size, not too tight and not too baggy if you want. Enhance your best features and draw attention away from ‘special areas’.
