OPINION

What is your preference, virtual or physical class?

I am a person and I have the opportunity to make my own choice. My style is definitely not everyone’s style but that has not rendered my style invalid. I used to wake up every morning to prepare for my class. I love to eat quite early but if I wake up by 6:00am for a 7:00am scheduled class, I need no one to tell me that I woke up late. I’ll rush to brush my teeth, have my bath and feed on some cereals before I leave the hall. In the previous semester, the lifestyle changed for me. I had no choice than to learn with total convenience. If I wake up by 6:00am for a class scheduled for 7:00am, I gently get out of bed, say my prayer and pick up my note and biro. It’s so easy. I can be in class and be eating, bathing, brushing my teeth even doing any kind of chore. Thanks to the Creator that technology has advanced so well that there is earpiece. No class stops my journey or restricts my daily plans. Here we are.

The second semester began a while ago and it seems that it’s not just me but many students especially finalists and stalites who have been doing several jobs to survive during the pandemic. From a view of these people and mine, virtual is better compared to physical. After my notable years in UI, I realised that everything they teach me is to realise myself in the real world out there. Luckily, I found myself during this break and it is really working for me. Imagine yourself in my position, do you think I will find it easy going for a physical class now out of discomfort and the lecturer will refuse to come and send us a message that the course representative reminded him late?
Another thing to note is that in physical classes, you think of what to wear and how to dress. From your hair style/scarf to your make up, your dress down to your shoes and bag, all these and more gives you concern. Kindly remember that in physical classes, the lecturers expect you to read up your materials and make excuses for coming late still giving you reasons to leave early.

It is obvious by now that I am in support of virtual classes as it gives us dual opportunities at once of being a student and to work while studying. Our minds are free now that we have known what is good for us and what works for us. We are the pride of Unibadan. We rep ourselves, we rep our family and we rep UI. Be a pride to yourself.
