Bribery before Election
Life is full of ups and downs. Disappointment is a wave that comes and goes expectantly but sometimes it stays. A lot of out of culture behaviors have somehow become part of us. We now accept what is wrong to be part of life. Many times, I wonder if people feel the same way in their thought what they make others go through in reality. Our endurance level has raised so high above the initial level as it does not seem that things are working out well, we only have to manage whatever offer comes our way.
Politics in Nigeria have grown so much that it is quite over powered with dynamism during campaign but less of the supposed activities are done eventually when in power. Nigerian politicians crave for power in a position and not the duties involved. To be a wealthy person, there are certain aspects of life that require restructuring to fit into that and as a poor person, some characteristics define the poverty.
Relating my words to bribery before election, it is necessarily not monetary but other things can be used. Quite a proud person who now greets because he/she is contesting for a position is bribing. Why can’t you live your normal life and if people like your personality like that, they will accept you. Why do you have to deceive people with an attitude that was never yours?
Some people on a normal day see no reason to help others because they are of the opinion that everyone should stand for him/her self. They gift people materials and money just to convince them that they should be considered for the position. This is the stage good people seem bad and bad people seem good. They give every of their attitude an extra effort with a touch of corruption that defames or paints them black afterwards. A life truly we live as we do everything our way, as the ideas of people do not seem to count or make any relevance as it might be against will. How long will it take us to get things right whereas, we have all the resources like our culture as it teaches us pure moral?

The Students’ Union election is near. We see fliers everywhere with names and aspiring position. The Students’ Union week is around the corner. A lot of aspirants will join committees to make people believe that they are quite effective and responsible but after being elected, they might take the first semester and a portion of the second semester as break from their stress and struggle to win.
Some questions I always have on mind, why do we struggle to get into power if really we will be doing our duties properly? Why have we made it a do or die affair? What makes you feel that your personality cannot get you a deserving position? Do we have to impress people with the unreal side of us? Why do we have to make people fall for our tricks at the expense of their time? Why do we have to cajole other students like us promising them what will never be done by us to get into a position so that we could be well linked with people at the higher level?
Let every form of bribery stop with you and your real self be known.
