Politics: A game that will soon be over
The reason why we are in school in the first place is to learn!
Politics is a game that will soon be over no matter the duration, it will definitely be over and the next player will come on board. Why waste so much time and treasure on a dirty game called politics? Substituting one’s academics for a game that will soon be over is no wise thing to do. Students who are to put more energy and dedication into getting a better result shouldn’t waste time on political campaign. Political campaign no doubt is good but giving it pre-eminence over one’s academic life makes it outrightly wrong. Academics shouldn’t be mistaken for a game, getting involved in activities that has no contribution to one’s academic life will result in jeopardy, no matter how great the activity is, once it exalts itself over one’s primary assignment here in the university becomes invalid. NEVER LOSE YOUR STUDENTSHIP!! In all your doing, do things that will help and balance your academic life and also build your personal momentum.
Campaign managers should be careful of overdoing (no go dey do pass yourself) don’t ever make your academic life a political game! Never! In the university, it is academics first and any other thing can follow. It is explicit that to be an aspirant in the Student Union, you must at least be on a second class upper grade because if you are not leading in your academics, you have no right and competence to lead other students.
Before it gets too late for us, this is the best time to get back on our feet and do the right thing. Let us make the best decision by making the best use of our time. It is no bad idea to have interest in politics or campaign but for those that are involved, never campaign with your future at stake. The best opportunity you have to sketch your desired life is now. Make out time for yourself and do not be unwise by using up your time for someone else. You as a campaign manager aiming to get someone into power should not sacrifice more than the person involved. Reason your actions well before jumping into it. It is definitely good to help others but not at the detriment of your being. Look forward to the best time for any action. Nobody can share you his/her CGPA, tsunami is real.
Examination is near, tests have begun. Higher institution is different from secondary school. If your performance is below the accepted level, the university offer is to advice you to withdraw. How do you go back to your sponsors and tell them that you have been sent away? Those that have high grade points, reconsider if it is wise enough to loose it for some sessional elections. Know that the higher you go, the tougher it becomes. If you can not start well, it takes the grace of the Creator to end well.
Never imitate others. Know your strengths and identify your weaknesses too. What is good for the goose might be bad for the gander. Carefully select organizations, the right organization(s) for yourself on campus. Don’t seek popularity on campus, face your mission so you can achieve your vision. You are not Almighty so, you can’t be everywhere. Just as there are two sides of a coin, the university either makes or mar you. There are enough distractions in school expecially social activities. These are in place to help you relax and not to entirely consume you. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All play and no work makes you a what? A nonetity I will say.
Follow the right steps and make good decisions. You determine your end from now. So it’s left to you to choose to end well. You have your life to live and no one can live it for you.
This is a game that will soon be over. Watch your steps and retrace every wrong act. You still have the opportunity to make hay while the sun shines. I am me, you are you, you are not me and I am not you. My life is my life, yours is yours, never imitate.
