CR7 returns to Manchester United
Juventus forward and 7 time Ballon d’or winner Christiano Ronaldo transfers to Manchester United on the English Premier League side. This move was not anticipated at all as several football fans have expressed shock at the move. At the Reds camp however, there has been so much jubilation. Ronaldo’s transfer to Man U has been termed as ‘his return home’ seeing that Ronaldo used to play for Manchester United. Consequently upon this move, many analysts have found the current transfer window very interesting. This is in view that Messi and Ronaldo transferred to other clubs at the same time.
PSG shows interest in Erling Haaland
French club, Paris Saint-Germain has signified interest in signing Dortmund star, Erling Haaland. This deal is dependent on whether PSG forward, Kylian Mbappe transfers to another club or remains at PSG. Real Madrid and Liverpool have been in talks with the PSG management on his potential move while waiting for Mbappe to make his decision. The French club has said that if Mbappe finally decides to go, they would love to have Erling Haaland on their team.
Manchester City strikes Arsenal five times
Last Saturday, Manchester City and Arsenal met on the pitch at Etihad Stadium, Man City’s stadium. Manchester City in true fashion and in line with their slogan were proud in battle, thrashing Arsenal to a whooping defeat within the 90 minutes of the game. Seven minutes into the game, they scored their first goal and by the end of the first half, they were leading with 3 goals. The game ended with Manchester City having scored 5 goals and Arsenal, none.
NIGERIAN WINS FIRST GOLD MEDAL IN TOKYO 2020 PARALYMPIC GAMES
Nigeria recorded its first gold medal in the ongoing Tokyo Paralympic 2020 games through Latifat Tijani who won the gold medal in the female 45kg event. Before Tijani’s success, one of Nigerians Para powerlifting medalist failed to reach to reach the podium games finals and went home in fourth position with a lift of 155kg.
Latifat Tijani broke record as she wins Nigeria first gold medal with a top lift of 107kg which is an improvement on her previous record of 106kg at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio. She secured the position ahead of china’s Zhe Cui who settled for sliver. Latifat has also won the bronze medal in the women’s 45kg event at the 2019 World Para Powerlifting Champions.
